Acupuncture is a form of drug free healing with its own unique system of diagnosis and disease identification.
Over 2,000 years ago, Chinese medical writings described the acupuncture channels, (meridians). Traditional acupuncturists believe that stimulation of precise acupuncture points, when applied on the basis of diagnosis, will aid the body's own defense and self healing systems; hence promoting treatment of disease in a broad category of illnesses.
The World Health Orginisation (December 1979) recognised that certain disorders within the following systems have been successfully treated with acupuncture.
These systems are:
Neurological – ie. headaches, migraines, sleep disorders, stress, nervous tension, dizziness, noises in ear, mencere's disease, forms of paralysis and neuralgia.
